PRIME MINISTER OF AUSTRALIA Eid Mubarak. After Ramadan’s days of worship and fasting, Eid al-Fitr is a special time for Muslim Australians to come together as a community in prayer, hospitality and generosity.
Muslim people have played an integral role in the story of modern Australia, and in the process have helped to shape the great nation we have become – a nation where we celebrate the diversity and the compassion that make us stronger, and the respect that binds us together.
It is a role Muslim Australians continue to play with determination, hard work, and creativity. This year the suffering in Gaza will mean many Muslim Australians will mark Eid al-Fitr with sorrow. This is a difficult and anxious time for many, and I hope you can find some measure of comfort and strength among your family and friends and the expression of your faith.
As you mark Eid al-Fitr, may you be lifted up in your faith and hope.
